Chain of custody. Every handoff is timestamped, and the person receiving the drive holds the matching record. Add a signature and a due date where the job calls for it, then export the history as a PDF.

QR labels. Scan to check a drive in or out. Anyone who finds a lost drive can scan the same label and see how to return it, without seeing a single filename.
